In ‘new India’, statues are built just as people die
of hunger — and those who ask why
are put behind bars.
And the benches talk of upholding personal liberty,
while crimes are institutionalised
every day.
Upholders of justice — fear for their lives?
May be they worry about their future.
And thus, justice is bought, but those who ask why —
are put behind bars.
And if they ask for a straw,
they are told to sip their sorrow in their death bed.
A doctor will visit them.
In ‘new India’, statues are built just as people die
of hunger.
Of institutionalised hunger.
